The Dating Project is a thought-provoking, award-winning documentary about the “hookup culture” that not only sparks conversation, but also encourages single people to take action.
The documentary features her unconventional extra-credit assignment regarding college dating culture.
Cronin asked students to go on “traditional dates” following specific guidelines — such as a no-texting policy for asking the person out, a time constraint of 45 to 90 minutes per date, and even instructions on how to hug.
Kerry Cronin is known by the students at Boston College as “the dating professor”. She saw that traditional dating was being replaced by hookup culture on college campuses across the country.
Cronin assigns the students of her class a task that is becoming increasingly challenging – she requires that they ask out and take somebody on a date. Cronin realized that dating culture was disappearing amongst young adults.
